Dental Implants

They are designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth which look, feel and function like natural teeth. The implants are titanium posts that are inserted into the jawbone where the teeth are missing. The bone bonds with the titanium. Small posts are then attached to the implant, which provide stable anchors for artificial replacement teeth.

Bone Grafting

Bone grafting is a very effective way to increase bone height and density due to bone loss.  Bone loss may be caused by a variety of reasons including cysts, aging, infection, etc.  Increasing the bone height and density may, for example, enhance denture retention or placement of an implant.

TMJ Disorders

Temporal Mandibular Joint (TMJ) disorders develop for many reasons.  Causes typically include clenching or grinding your teeth, tightening your jaw muscles and/or stressing your jaw joint and injury to the joint. The symptoms may include pain, clicking, trouble opening your mouth or a misaligned bite.  The joint may also be damaged due to injury or disease.

Facial Trauma

Facial injuries include:  lacerations, cuts to the mouth, knocked out teeth, broken facial bones, fractured jaws, etc.   The outcome of these types of injuries is very dependent upon timely diagnosis and treatment.

Tissue Diagnosis and Biopsy

Any change in the appearance of the skin inside the mouth, may be an indication that something is not right.  It may be necessary to remove a small sample of tissue (biopsy) to be looked at microscopically.  Do not ignore suspicious lumps, sores, or changes in the mouth.  Most biopsies are benign.  Early detection, diagnosis and treatment are key.

Orthognathic Surgery

Orthognathic surgery may be necessary when jaws/teeth do not align correctly.  This corrective procedure reshapes the face, by repositioning the jaws, to create a more balanced appearance.
