Wisdom Tooth Removal
This is recommended or required when there is not enough room for the teeth to properly erupt into the mouth, or when there are problems with the teeth or gums surrounding the wisdom teeth. Possible problems can include: pain, swelling, gum disease, crowding, decay, cysts or tumors.
Dental Implants
They are designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth which look, feel and function like natural teeth. The implants are titanium posts that are inserted into the jawbone where the teeth are missing. The bone bonds with the titanium. Small posts are then attached to the implant, which provide stable anchors for artificial replacement teeth.
Bone Grafting/ PRP
These procedures may be necessary if the height of bone is not sufficient enough to hold an implant, or if there is bone loss due to cysts or infection. Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a by-product of plasma, which is rich in platelets. Platelets assist in healing. PRP permits the body to heal faster and more efficiently. Bone grafting in addition to PRP has become a very effective and efficient way to increase bone density and height.
TMJ Disorders
TMJ disorders develop for many reasons. You might clench or grind your teeth, tightening your jaw muscles and stressing your jaw joint. Or the joint may be damaged due to injury or disease. Whatever the cause, the results may include a misaligned bite, pain, clicking, or trouble opening your mouth. There's no simple treatment for your TMJ disorder, but with the help of your health care team, you're more likely to have a healthier and more comfortable jaw.
Facial Trauma
These injuries include: facial lacerations, cuts to the inside of the mouth, knocked out teeth, broken facial bones, or fractured jaws. Drs. Crichton and Hildebrandt are trained, skilled and uniquely qualified to manage and treat facial trauma.
Tissue Diagnosis and Biopsy
Any change in the appearance of the skin inside the mouth can be a warning sign for a pathological process. The most serious of these is oral cancer. It may be necessary to remove a small sample to be looked at microscopically to determine the reason for the changes. Do not ignore suspicious lumps, sores, or changes in the mouth; contact us so we may help.
Orthognathic Surgery
Orthognathic surgery is needed when jaws don't meet correctly and/or teeth don't seem to fit with the jaws. Orthognathic surgery shapes up your face by first straightening your teeth with orthodontics and then repositioning your jaws to create a more balanced appearance with corrective surgery.
